CERT: Community Emergency Response Team

COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM TRAINING

WHAT
IS
CERT?

CERT classes are aimed at preparing groups of citizens in the South Pierce Fire & Rescue Fire District to prepare for and respond to disasters! The classes follow a model developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that is offered i
n cities across the United States.

The idea behind this model is to teach citizens in all communities how to help each other in the first few minutes, hours and possibly days following a disaster – before emergency responders are able to get to us to render professional help. In the classes, students will gain hands-on skills such as how to put out small fires, render first aid in a disaster situation, and perform light search and rescue.

The series consist of nine classes, 22 hours total, which are usually held in the evenings, from 6:30 – 9:00 pm, one night per week and culminate in a practical exercise to be held in the 9th class of the series.

For more information please contact: Larry Dorothy at 253-888-2563,  Alana Smith at 360-832-6805, South Pierce Fire & Rescue at 253-847-4333 or submit an inquiry below!
